Today, we went on a bus tour of central London. I took down a ton of notes , but I don't feel like pulling them out now. After that, I worked on uploading my pictures and took a 2 hr nap that I desperately needed.
Tonight, we went back to Hoop and Toy, the pub we designated as our default, stand-by. We made friends with a couple of the 'tenders (barmen) last night, and we all went to the ice-skating rink tonight. The cost was £12 (about 21 dollars), so half of us opted out in order to save money.
After that, we went to another pub in the area, the name of which I forget, but it wasn't that great and was pretty crowded, so Leah and I left to come home and get some food at work on things (such as this blog) before we go to bed.
I want to explain to some of the Americans at home reading this that going to the bar is not like it is in the States. Folks here don't go to the pub with the objective of getting drunk. It's more of a social activity. People go to the pub to just get out of the house and socialize, mainly because houses are so small here that it's hard to have guests. It's actually an insult not to go out with your coworkers after work for a drink because they get the idea that sitting at home watching television or whatever else is more important than spending time with your mates. So, it may seem like I go to the pub a lot, but it has nothing to do with being a party animal; it's really an integral social aspect of the culture. On that note... Ashley is straightedge (she doesn't drink) and she LOVES going out to the pub with us. Bless her heart!
Rained this morning.
